Presenter Guidelines

The presentation slides may be written in your own house style/format as used by your organisation in 16 : 9 screen ratio and there is no set deadline for submission. Please note that the presentation must not be considered a 'sales pitch'.

Presenting on the day

Please meet with the Session Chairman immediately prior to your session eg registration, coffee, lunch break. This meeting ensures that all speakers are given the same amount of time to check their visual aids and Chairmen can confirm any technical queries. A technician will be available to assist with any queries on the day.

The length of programme slot is 25 minutes. This includes getting on and off the platform as well as the chairman's introduction; actual presentation length should be around 20 - 22 minutes. It should be noted that the chairman may intervene and ask the authors to finish their presentation if it overruns significantly.

The presentation will be part of a session normally consisting of 3 - 5 papers. Questions will not be taken between papers, but at the end of the session one author from each paper will be invited back onto the stage for an open panel question session of approximately 15 minutes.

AV Support

Authors are invited to bring a final copy on the day of presentation or alternatively you may send a copy to: in advance for pre-loading. Videos may be included as part of your presentation if the files are provided on a disk or memory stick; embedded videos must be checked by the AV Technicians prior to the live presentation.

Please note that due to internet access limitations at the venue, it may not be possible to retrieve your presentation from online transfer sites such as 'Dropbox' or to carry out live web streaming of videos on the day.

Audio/video recording

The IMarEST may video/audio record your presentation for the IMarEST website, should you wish to opt out at any time, please contact: as soon as possible.

Authors are reminded that technical papers will be published to all participants within the electronic and printed proceedings ahead of the Symposium and afterwards to IMarEST Members via the Institute’s Digital Archive: Copyright of individual papers remains with the authors and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology retains the Copyright to the complete volume of technical papers.

Presentation slides will not be published online or in hard copy, however authors may be approached individually by delegates who wish to obtain copies of a particular slide pack.
